Our Shop

The Kansas City Woodworkers Guild (KCWG) provides everything a woodworker needs whether you are just starting out or you are a master craftsman. Joining the Guild will provide you with the shop, tools, education and camaraderie required to increase your skill and love of woodworking. Our Shop covers 10,000 square feet of floor space and is divided to provide a productive working environment.

Open Shop Foremen

Fonts of Wood Wisdom

The Open Shop Foremen control all operations of the shop and no work with tools can take place unless one of these individuals is present at the site.  This group of trained and talented craftsmen volunteer their time so that the Guild can have a safe and smooth running facility.  Foremen are available for questions about how to use a tool or how to best safely accomplish a task.  Please thank these volunteers for their commitment to the Guild.  They are the heart and soul of all day to day operations.

Shop Assets

Tools are updated, repaired and replaced as required to allow our members to construct top quality projects without being hindered by obsolete or poorly maintained tools.
Please bring any item in need of attention to the Foreman on duty.

Storage

  • Projects are to be stored only in specified areas:
  • If you glue up a project and want to leave it overnight (24 hours), mark the project with your name, phone number, email, and date, or leave your badge with it.  You can leave it on the tables in the hallway outside of the kitchen.  If you do not return the next day, others may feel free to remove the clamps for their own use.
  • Space in the Storage room is limited to members paying rent, and is available for rent on a first come, first served basis.  Contact the Storage Coordinator to check availability or to be placed on the waiting list.
  •  A monthly fee is charged based on the cubic footage.  See the Project Storage Policy for complete information.
